I love this new Stampin Up Bundle.  It’s an excellent set for making masculine cards, which can often be a struggle to create. I especially love the framelits of the straws and bottle tops.

I recently attend a whole day crafting session with my crafting group Strawberry Stampers. I volunteered to do a demonstration and to make 10 different designs using this bundle.  I chose to demonstrate a WIPER CARD, which I have given instructions for below.

wiperIn making this card I have also used the tankard and ‘cheers’ stamps from the MIXED DRINKS stamp set.  I think the two sets compliment each other very well.

  1.  Cut two pieces of cardstock both measuring 8-1/2″ by 4-1/4″. (Score at 1-1/2″ and 3″)
  2. Cut a small piece of cardstock which will measure 1-1/2″ by 3″.

3. On the small piece of cardstock make a mark at 1-1/2″ as shown above.

4. To this small piece of cardstock add a piece of pattern paper                                (measuring 1-1/2″ by 1-1/2″) and score diagonally as shown in image below.

5.  Flip the piece of and glue the botton triangle section.

6. Place the glued section in-between the two fold lines leaving about a 1/8th gap between the top of the small piece and the base card (as shown below)

At this point you can add your embellishment (in my case I used the tankard image) to the patterned paper.

7. Add glue to the folded edge and adhere it to the flat side of the second base layer. Make sure edges are aligned correctly.

8.  Repeat process with the second base layer.

Your card is now complete and should look like the image below.

9.  Add your chosen embellishments.

On the front of the card I have used SO SAFFRON card stock, BUBBLE OVER bundle, MIXED DRINKS stamp set, HAPPY BIRTHDAY thinlits, GOLD FACETED GEMS, BUBBLES & FIZZ DESIGNER SERIES PAPER (which is free during SALE-A-BRATION when you spend £45).

On the back of the card I have created an area for signature etc.

All the materials used in these cards can be purchased in my shop.

A WINE TAG (the complete gift)

This Christmas wine tag allows you to give a gift of wine plus has a pocket to include (for example) chocolates and/or a gift card for a meal or a supermarket shop.  I thought the ‘EAT, DRINK and be MERRY’ label was very appropriate in this instance.

You need to cut 2 pieces of card stock  – the large one measuring  7cm x 21  and the smaller one measuring 9cm x 12cm.   The large piece needs to be scored at 6.5 cm and the smaller piece at PORTRAIT  6cm and 7.5cm and LANDSCAPE at 1.5cm, 3cm, 9cm and 10.5cm.

Next you need to cut out all the shaded areas – as shown in the diagram below:

I then cut out a design to make it easier to see the gift card/chocolates and I also cut out a design at the bottom of the tag (as shown below):

I cut out a circle at the top of the tag to go over the neck of the wine bottle.

Lastly I made up the front pocket and added it to the front of the tag.

Your tag is now ready for you to decorate it as you want.

For my tag I used the following:

Stamp (EAT DRINK and be MERRY)  – from the MERRY LITTLE LABELS stamp set (which I embossed with gold embossing powder).

My love of Embossing Folders

I am now well into making my Christmas cards – 49 made to date and a lot more to come.   I am particularly pleased with how my cards are turning out this year and a lot of the success is due to the wonderful Stampin Up embossing folders. I thought I’d share some of my card designs with you to highlight just how versatile these embossing folders are.

In my first example I have used the WOODLAND embossing folder (priced £7.75)

With this card I stamped the tree images onto the folder before running it through the Big Shot and then I used the ‘Aqua Painter’ and ‘Soft Sky’ ink to paint onto the front of the card.  This makes the trees stand out.

My second example uses the new QUILT TOP embossing folder (priced £7.25)

In the third design I used the new  WINTER WONDERLAND embossing folder (which is a personal favourite) (priced £7.00).  I have teamed this with the QUILT TOP embossing folder as the background.

The fourth design features the HOLLY embossing folder (priced £7.00). This creates such a lovely background for a wide range of Christmas cards.

The fifth card design uses the SOFTLY FALLING embossing folder (priced £7.75). I probably use this background more than any other for my cards – it is so effective and as the name suggests it give the impression of a gentle fall of snow.

The sixth design uses one of  the ‘dynamic’ embossing folders range which means it is a thicker folder which creates a deeper embossed impression. (The price is £9.00)

The last design is another ‘dynamic’ folder called PINEWOOD PLANKS (priced at £9.00).  I love the simplicity of this design.

As you can see I’m a big fan of these embossing folders and I find it hard to resist adding to my every growing supply every time Stampin Up brings out a new embossing folder.  Some of the above folders can be used other than at Christmas which is why they are so versatile.  They are inexpensive and I believe a real must for crafters.

I hope you find the above useful and I will be posting my October newsletter very soon.

Another ‘Beautiful You’ card.

I make no apologies for posting another ‘Beautiful You’ card as I just love this set and find it very versatile.   I made the above card for a dear friend who both loves travel and is always very fashionable.

It was an easy card to make.  The card base uses basic Black card stock which measures 25 cm x 17cm and was scored at 12.5 cm.  Then I used Real Red card stock, measuring  11.5 cm x 16.5cm and then finally Whisper White card stock (measuring  10.5 cm x  15.5 cm) on to which I stamped the larger image from the Mediterranean Moments in Basic Black ink.

I then stamped the image from Beautiful You stamp set – once on a scrap of Whisper White cardstock and then again on a scrap of Real Red cardstock.

I then cut out each of the images but with the red image I only cut out the dress and hat.

I then glued the dress to the black and white image and used a suitable marker pen to colour in the flesh part of the image.  I used dimensionals to add the completed image to the card to make it stand out.  I placed it so that it looked as if the lady had her hand on the seat.

I added a sentiment (again from the Beautiful You stamp set)  using the Banner Triple punch and also added Real Red ribbon from the ‘Sending Love’ ribbon combo.  I just love the colour scheme of black, white and red.  Very pleased with the result.

Beautiful You stamp set

I love all the new items in the Spring/Summer catalogue, but if I had to make a choice of my favourite it would have to be the ‘Beautiful You’ stamp set.  In my last blog I shared the first card I had made with this set which I designed for my granddaughters 15th birthday.

Since then I have been making more cards with this stamp set and I would like to share my latest design which I feel has turned out very well.

Red and white are one of my favourite colour combinations so that was my challenge to make a card with these colours.

by red copy.jpg

I started with WHISPER WHITE card stock which measured 21 cm x 14.5  (creased at 10.5 cm).  I die cut the 6 hearts on the front of the card and then die cut the hearts on a scrap of REAL RED card stock.

I cut out the individual red hearts and glued them to the white hearts on the card front.

I stamped out the image I wanted and using my aqua paint brush and REAL RED ink pad I coloured the image and stamped out the reflection.   I thought the red wasn’t dark enough so I went over the image again with CHERRY COBBLER ink.  I was then pleased with the colour on the  image.

Lastly I added the sentiment in CHERRY COBBLER ink on to WHISPER WHITE card stock and then die-cut the sentiment with oval STITCHED framelit which I backed with REAL RED card stock.

I added red jewels and small heart (from the LOVE NOTES framelits) to give more emphasis.
